5th graders' field trip to Zagreb

On Friday, December 9th the 5th class pupils from Moravice, Severin na Kupi and Vrbovsko as well as the 4th class pupils from Vrbovsko together with their teachers went to the capital for their field trip. The first stop was the Cinestar in Branimir Centar where they watched a teen film 'Ljubav ili smrt' based on a novel written by a famous Croatian children and teen writer Ivan Kušan. After Koko, Ema, Melita, Miki and the gang, they went sightseeing around the city centre. So they started their city tour at King Tomislav Square and went towards the Ice Park where some of them enjoyed an hour of ice-skating while others had a chance to eat 'fritule', a famous Croatian pastry similar to doughtnuts (but much, much better). After the skating hour, they went towards Rudolf, a little spot just for children and proceeded towards Zrinjevac. From Zrinjevac they went to Ban Josip Jelačić Square and then along Ilica to one of the most famous Zagreb landmarks - 'uspinjača' or funicular. The ride was free of charge due to Advent in Zagreb and it was a great way to see Zagreb from above and to come to Gornji grad where they saw Saint Mark's Church and the Croatian Parliament. From Gornji grad they went down the Josip Juraj Strossmayer's Promenade and into the famous Grič tunnel which took them back to Ilica and the main square. They had a snack or two at McDonald's in Jurišićeva Street which gave them strenght to carry on towards Zrinjevac bathed in Christmas lights and the Ice Park full of skaters. Finally they reached the Main train station where their bus had been parked. They got on and started their way back to Vrbovsko, Severin na Kupi and Moravice.

There are photos to show how great it was being in Zagreb during the Christmas time.

Merry Christmas everyone from the 5th graders and their teachers!
