On Thursday, October 26th the three 2nd graders had their first reading workshop. This year they became the youngest Little Bookworms in Moravice. And they are so proud of it that they carry their Little Bookworms ID cards with them all the time.

For the first workshop, the teacher chose A hungry caterpillar, a book about a very special caterpillar who likes to eat different things and changes its colours the moment it eats something. When it eats a banana, for example, it becomes yellow. At the very end of the story, our hungry caterpillar becomes a beautiful butterfly.

We read the book together, sitting on the floor of the classroom. While reading, the teacher revised colours with the three bookworms. The numbers, too.

After finishing the reading, they filled in their Reading Diaries which the teacher herself made for them and they continued with craftwork. They used their hands to 'draw' a caterpillar of colours of their choice. They hand painted the caterpillar's head and its tentacles, glued googly eyes and decorated it with some glitter. They added a cloth flower and a moosegummy butterfly on their drawing.

They were so happy during the workshop and creating their hand printed caterpillars that they expressed their wish to have more than one Little Bookworms workshops per week.
