The 8th class pupils did a text on the recycled art represented by artists such as Strati, Dahlsen and Wilson from which they found out what things can be used to make art. Driftwood, chewing gums, nails, toothpicks, and flip-flops are just some of them. After learning about the environmentally-friendly art they had an assignment to make their own recycled piece of art. So, Mirjam made the Eiffel Tower using carton, Samanta made the Norwegian flag using toilet paper, carton and some watercolours while Danijela, Anja and Roberta used pasta to make their recycled piece of art. Danijela opted for a beautiful pasta unicorn; Anja made an amazing black pasta cat and Roberta made a carton poster with a motivational message on it as well as a little green pasta alien. Valentina made a fully functional pencil case by using a plastic 0,5 l bottle which we cut in half and them connected with a zipper. She made it look like a cute little panda. If you are wondering whether it works...yes, it does! And finally Vanja's piece of art. She really likes Đuro so she made an artwork dedicated to that famous seagull. She made a wooden lighthouse with actually works with a small seagull figure in front of it. Wherever you go, there's Đuro!
By doing this and creating their own eco-friendly piece of art, the 8th class pupils showed that they are really environmentally conscious and aware that our planet is ours as much as we belong to it.
On 7 October we visited one of Crotian national parks which is also the oldest one. We had a lot of fun on the way there...as well as on the way home...At first the weather was cloudy but it wasn't raining. However, our luck didn't last...During the second half of our sightseeing the rain started...and we hurried to the bus...Some of us got wet more than others.
Despite the weather we had the best time ever!
P.S. It was also our teacher's birthday and our present to her was a folk song wishing her to live until she's 105 and then all over again!
