Welcome to Winter Wonderland

Winter Wonderland! What can we say?! It's our baby! It took a lot of work to make it but in the end it was well worth it!

We used cartons (juice, milk) as our base for the houses. We removed the plastic caps leaving a hole in soon-to-be roofs. First we cut the top and then put it together with a hot glue gun making it in a shape of a roof. We applied a decoupage glue onto the cartons. Then we put a paper napkins on it covering the whole carton. After it glued we coloured the cartons with a brown distemper and let them dry for a day. We put another layer of brown on them and let them dry. While they were drying, we made roofs out of carton boxes such as the ones of Čokolino or any kinds of biscuits. We glued them on top of the house with a hot glue gun and coloured them white. When they dried, we applied a hand-made snow. How did we do it? Well, we needed a white concrete paint, a special kind of glue for wood (Drvofix) and a baking soda. We put all the ingredients into the bowl and mix them together adding a bit of glitter. We applied the mixture to our roofs using knives for decorating cakes (not to worry, the  silicone ones). As soon as we applied the snow, we decoratred the roofs with colourful buttons and gems...and a little more glitter. After all, it Christmas and everything needs to be glittering and shining! Right?

The very houses were decorated with candy canes (yeah, the real ones!), gems, pompons, buttons, wooden decoations and snow.

At the same time while making the houses, we made a paper trees, polar bears, huskies, deer and reindeer, sleighs, etc.

And then it was time to make our Winter Wonderland. One of the dads (Thank you, Mr Velimir Vučinić!) made a wooden foundement on which we glued our houses together with polar bears, sleighs, huskies, deer and reindeer. In front of the each house there was a Santa holding a name tag, so everyone can see who made which house. The border of the wooden foundement was decorated with little silver balls and lights while the very surface was covered with the artificial snow and silver glitter.

The result is seen in the photos below. We think it turned out great! More than great! What do you say?

Wishing you all the best for the upcoming holidays!
