On Friday, June 2nd, students of the 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grades of elementary school Nikola Tesla from Moravice, accompanied by teachers Mirjana Krivokuća-Rožić, Valentina Vukadinović, and Davorka Nekić, visited the town of Senj as part of the planned field trip Red-haired Zora. During the town tour, they saw the remains of the city walls, which are older than those in Dubrovnik, Zadar, Šibenik, and Korčula, as well as the Šabac Tower, which is part of these walls. Following the QR codes and accompanying the plot of the novel Red-haired Zora and Her Gang by the German writer Kurt Held, they visited the squares of Senj: The Dvorac Square, the Mirko Ožegović Square, and the Cilnica Square, saw the Great Gate where the Josephine Road ends, learned about clergyman Blaž Baromić, the Senj Glagolitic printing house, and the Senj Table, saw the Ježić and Vukasović palaces and the historically significant house of the jeweler Živković with an ornamented shell, the birth houses of prominent Croatian writers S. S. Kranjčević and Vjenceslav Novak, visited the Park of Poets, walked through Nehaj and with expert guidance visited the Nehaj Tower and learned all about its history and the widely known Uskoks and the Senj bora.
The Senj Tourist Board gave the students brochures Town of Red-haired Zora and Senj4Kids, which made the sightseeing more interesting and will benefit the students and their teachers in further classes.
On 7 October we visited one of Crotian national parks which is also the oldest one. We had a lot of fun on the way there...as well as on the way home...At first the weather was cloudy but it wasn't raining. However, our luck didn't last...During the second half of our sightseeing the rain started...and we hurried to the bus...Some of us got wet more than others.
Despite the weather we had the best time ever!
P.S. It was also our teacher's birthday and our present to her was a folk song wishing her to live until she's 105 and then all over again!
