Since September 26th is traditionally celebrated as the European Day of Languages, the students of Elementary school Nikola Tesla from Moravice dedicated a whole week in which they learnt a lot of new things, repeated what they already knew, and also had a great time. Our youngest, first, and second graders made paper dolls in folk costumes from European countries and, in addition to the appearance of traditional costumes, learnt the names of these countries and traditional dishes. Third and fourth graders became world travelers and created their own passports in which they entered the countries they wanted to visit – they found out what the flags looked like and some interesting things related to the selected countries. The fifth graders played a guessing game Where's Wally? in which, based on the flag and some sights, they had to tell which country it was, while the sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students tried their hand at the pub quiz for the first time and achieved enviable results.
As Edward De Waal said, With languages, you are at home anywhere.
On 7 October we visited one of Crotian national parks which is also the oldest one. We had a lot of fun on the way there...as well as on the way home...At first the weather was cloudy but it wasn't raining. However, our luck didn't last...During the second half of our sightseeing the rain started...and we hurried to the bus...Some of us got wet more than others.
Despite the weather we had the best time ever!
P.S. It was also our teacher's birthday and our present to her was a folk song wishing her to live until she's 105 and then all over again!
